Welcome Back
Welcome back and happy New Year! In order for students to get back into the swing of things, please continue with a regular homework routine. Students continue to have more responsibility. At the end of the day, agendas are signed once the agenda is completed. Students are reminded that they need specific items to take home if those items are not already on their desk. It is up to the student to make the necessary additions.

With snow in the near future, it is important for students to have winter boot, snow pants, mitts and hats at school each day. An extra pair of mitts and/or socks in the school bag is also a good idea.

Welcome Back
Welcome back to all of our returning families and a special welcome to our new families. We have been getting acquainted with our new format, (schedule as well as the yard). It will take time for us to get used to things and work out any issues. Most of the students have their indoor running shoes which are required for gym class. Thank you for that. If your child has not brought them in yet, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you.

Spelling
In the slides that were sent to parents at the beginning of the school year, I mentioned that we would start a spelling program in January. As we are making steady progress with the UFLI reading program, I have decided not to include a spelling program on top of it. The UFLI program covers spelling patterns so, there is no need to add formal spelling lessons.

Quick Math Quizzes
We are starting our quick math quizzes the week of November 11. This is to build fluence with adding and subtracting small amounts quickly. We will begin with adding 0 & 1. The following week we will have subtracting 0 & 1. Then we will continue with adding 2, then subtracting 2 and so on. You can practice these with your child orally; no need to write this out. The most that students will have to do is add an amount to 20 and subtract an amount from 20.

Rosaries
We are looking to work with the St. Philip Women's Auxiliary in order for the grade 3 students to make rosaries. It is important that each student is able to tie knots for this activity to be successful. Please practice this skill with your child so that they can complete a rosary when the time comes.
