Hallowe'en Dance

The grade six students are hosting a Hallowe'en dance this Friday in the school gym. Come out, have some fun and support the grade sixes!

Religion

During the month of May we will focusing on the rosary. We will not only be making sure we know all of the prayers for the rosary but we will also be making one with the help of St. Philip parish and Mrs. McKenna. During Fully Alive, students will learn about special events in the family such as weddings and births. A letter was sent home outlining exactly what will be learned during the Created Sexual unit.

Math

We are currently working on area. We will follow that up with moving on a grid and coding. We will also be exploring the attributes of 3-D shapes (faces, edges, vertices). Language

Our focus for writing will be persuasive. Students will learn how to construct arguments to bring the reader around to their way of thinking. In reading, our focus is determining important ideas. This allows us to focus on the key points of a passage.

Physical Education

What better way to improve your stamina and hand-eye-coordination than skipping. Students will improve their single rope skipping skills as well as using a long rope. We might even try doubledutch!

Science

Our new unit is Forces. Students will learn the different forces that affect our lives such as friction, gravity, magnetism, wind and water.

Arts

Our final unit for the arts is music. Students will learn the difference between beat and rhythm. They will learn to coordinate movement to music.
