Shrove Tuesday

Mmmm...pancakes!

Today our class and Mrs. Bailey's class made pancakes.  We practiced making predictions, having reasons for our predictions,  following a procedural piece of writing, measuring, kitchen safety and of course, our eating skills.  Our class would like to thank Mrs. Bailey and her class for including us in this great activity and for using their classroom.

Also, here is the recipe we used:

Materials:
2 bowls
whisk
flipper
griddle/frying pan

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
2 tbsp oil
pinch of salt

Directions:
  1. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  2. Whisk egg, milk and oil in a small bowl. Then add to flour mixture. Mix well but do not over mix.
  3. Pour oil onto griddle/pan. Let heat up.
  4. Pour a spoonful of batter onto hot oil.
  5. Cook until bubbles form then flip to the other side.
